Aloo Matar is a simple curry made with potatoes and peas that gives amazing taste when served with Poori, Roti, Paratha, and Chapathi. It is a simple and easy recipe for beginners. This recipe can be made with minimal ingredients and yet taste good. They also do not require much cooking expertise.
Ingredients
2 medium-sized onions
2 medium-sized tomatoes
2 green chilies
1 spoon ginger garlic paste
2 large potatoes
1/2 cup soaked peas
1 spoon chili powder
1 spoon coriander powder
1/2 spoon garam masala
3 spoon oil
2-inch thin cinnamon piece
2 cloves
Salt to taste
Preparation method
Take 2 medium-sized onion finely chopped, 2 medium-sized tomatoes finely chopped, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste.
Soak peas overnight and take 1/2 cup soaked peas or you can take fresh peas that are available in supermarkets. Take 2 large potatoes cut into 1-inch cubes and keep them in water until used.
How to make tasty Aloo Matar
Place a cooker or Kadai on the stove, heat 3 tablespoons of oil. Add 2-inch thin cinnamon piece, 2 cloves, and allow to crackle. Add 2 green chilies and chopped onions saute until it turns golden. Next, add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears. Add chopped tomatoes and stir well. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, and half a teaspoon of garam masala. Stir and mix the spice powders with the rest of the sauteed masala paste. Now add potatoes and peas. Stir and saute for a minute. Pour 1.5 cups of water if cooking in a pot.
If pressure cooking then add 1 cup water, close the lid and give 2 whistles then turn off the stove or cook for 7 to 8 minutes on medium heat until the potatoes & peas are cooked completely.
After pressure releases open the lid then add some chopped coriander leaves. Stir well and serve Aloo Matar gravy hot with poori or roti or rice or paratha.
